SOLUTIONS FOR THE FUTURE

ICTIO BIOTECHNOLOGIES is a Chilean biotechnological consortium that implements the scientific work of Centro de Biotecnología Acuícola (CBA) at the Universidad de Santiago, in collaboration with private companies, in order to deliver sustainable last generation solutions for the prevention and control of aquaculture diseases.
ICTIO BIOTECHNOLOGIES
ICTIO BIOTECHNOLOGIES, or Consorcio Tecnológico de Sanidad Acuícola S.A., was created in 2014 as a public/private alliance. Its primary goal is to encourage the development of a sustainable salmoniculture in our country. ICTIO is based on the scientific work of the Aquaculture Biotechnological Center (CBA) of Universidad de Santiago de Chile, combined with the efforts of the following companies: Salmones Blumar S.A., Productos del Mar Ventisqueros S.A., and the biotechnology company ActivaQ S.A. This initiative joins public and corporate scientific efforts. Its purpose is to research and develop solutions for the prevention and control of aquaculture diseases, which are currently unavailable internationally.

Given the strategical importance of the salmon industry in Chile, our consortium managed to obtain half of its funds through CORFO during the first 7 years of its existence. The remaining 50% are covered by private funds.
